Have you suspected you might have ADHD or Autism? Maybe the "classic" symptoms never fit but your social media algorithm has introduced you to tendencies that hit a little close to home. Often during major life events, things that once were easy to manage now feel difficult. If neurodivergence is at play it can feel impossible.
On top of that, our current medical system can make it challenging to get a diagnosis. Scheduling multiple visits, follow ups, referrals, etc. is not just time-consuming. It's also incredibly difficult for someone who struggles with scheduling, talking on the phone, or getting things done.
about the assessment
Developed by Lindley Cherry, LCMHC, QS, NCC, the Cherry Adult ADHD-Autism Diagnostic Interview is a clinical assessment method designed specifically for identifying ADHD, autism, and co-occurring presentations (AuDHD) in adults. This assessment also provides information on if a PDA profile or masking is suspected as part of your diagnosis.

-
Key Features:
-
Adult-Centered Approach: Unlike tools designed for children and adapted for adults, the Cherry AADI was created specifically for adult presentations, accounting for developmental masking, compensatory strategies, and life experience factors.
-
Culturally Responsive: Incorporates systematic consideration of cultural, gender, and identity factors that influence neurodivergent presentation and recognition.
-
Strengths-Based: Emphasizes individual neurological profiles and environmental fit rather than deficit-focused assessment.
-
Comprehensive Scope: Addresses not only core diagnostic criteria but also masking behaviors, sensory processing differences, and pathological demand avoidance patterns.
-
how does it work?
-
First, we'll meet for a 20-minute consultation where we will discuss your reasons for seeking an official diagnosis and look at scheduling your assessment interview.
-
Next, we'll complete the interview. This will take around 3 hours total. We can break this into multiple sessions or knock it all out in on go - it's up to you. This is where we will use the Cherry AADI and really talk through your symptoms. If you plan to use insurance, we will have to break this up into multiple sessions to ensure coverage.
-
Then, it'll take between 2-4 weeks for me to compile your full assessment report, making sure it checks all the boxes needed for a full diagnosis (or not, depending on what we find). I'll also check your symptoms against other common misdiagnoses and compare this to our DSM-5TR diagnostic criteria.
-
Finally, we'll have a 30-minute follow-up meeting where we'll discuss the diagnosis and other findings from the assessment. You'll then receive a copy of the assessment report.

can I use insurance?
It's possible! This is entirely dependent on what type of insurance plan you have, if it covers counseling sessions, and if you've had an assessment already this calendar year. If you're interested in using insurance, reach out and we can find out more. You can also call your insurance to see if they cover counseling sessions with the following CPT codes: 90791, 90837, and 90832.
